Anointing Packages

We are proud to launch a new initiative designed not only to support clergy in ministering to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are sick, but also to provide familiarity and comfort for those receiving the Sacrament of the Last Rites.

“This initiative is yet another way NATSICC is working to bring Faith and Culture together, ensuring that sacred Catholic Traditions are delivered in a way that respects and embraces the spirituality of First Nations Peoples” said NATSICC Councillor, and project coordinator Sally FitzGerald. “We hope to provide some comfort to those that are suffering”.

The NATSICC Anointing Packages consist of:

  • Wooden Coolamon for the for consecrated oils

  • Aboriginal Stole

  • Wooden ‘comfort cross’

  • Rosary bead bracelet and How to Prayer the Rosary card

  • Two beautifully designed booklets—one for the Priest and one for the person who is sick or dying— featuring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander prayers and reflections

  • Candle
