Reconciliation Week 2017

Each year National Reconciliation Week (NRW) celebrates and builds on the respectful relationships shared by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and other Australians.

"The Church herself in Australia will not be fully the Church that Jesus wants her to be until you have made your contribution to her life and until that contribution has been joyfully received by others."

Saint John Paul II in Alice Springs 1986

The Main Story

National Reconciliation week evolved from a Week of Prayer first organised in 1993. The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholic Council (NATSICC) advocates for over 120,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholics in Australia and we are striving to build relationships between Indigenous and non Indigenous Catholics.

We offer the resources below for communities to use in 'Taking the next steps' in the process of reconciliation with Australia's first people.

NATSICC has compiled a Quick Information guide for the week.
