NATSICC Assemblies have traditionally been a time to talk, share and discuss the future direction of the council. This year's Assembly is important from this aspect as we are entering a very crucial time in Indigenous affairs with the issues of the Federal Apology, the Intervention and the proposed changes to Australia’s constitution on the table.

As Indigenous Catholics, we have made positive inroads by  becoming more involved with the Church and the Liturgy. The theme of Culturally enriched through the Gospel is very relevant because you will  we have the opportunity to hear about the ways in which Aboriginal and Islander Ministries have linked faith and traditional culture through programs and Inculturation of the Liturgy.

Another important aspect of the Assembly is to pay our respects to the Owners of the land on which we will meet,  and experience the wonders that it contains. Delegates will visit the Mary MacKillop Heritage Centre and bear witness to the wonderful works of Australia's first Saint. Youth Assembly Delegates will visit the hallowed grounds of the MCG and take a tour of the Sports Museum, including exhibitions on pioneering Indigenous sportspeople.

2012 is a watershed year for Indigenous affairs in this country - never before have our voices been more important.
I invite you to come to Melbourne in October and play a part in planning the future of NATSICC and our place in the Catholic Church
