NATSICC is planning to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Pope John Paul II's visit to Alice Springs by holding our National Assembly in the Red Centre in 2006. The original visit occured in 1986 and was the venue for one of the Pope's most important speeches, his address to Aboriginal people. This speech can be found in resouces.

The event will take place October 2nd- 7th 2006

The objectives of the pilgrimage are to help participants grow in their faith, to grow in their understanding of indigenous issues and to celebrate the success of the Pass It On Message Stick Relay.
These objectives will be achieved by:
1. Learning a little about Aboriginal life in Alice Springs today;
2. Visiting two historic Aboriginal communities: Altunga and Santa Teresa; and
3. Participating in the 2006 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholic Council (NATSICC) Assembly “Dreaming from the Heart”.
