National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholic Council
The NATSICC National Assembly is an opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholics to come together with those working alongside us in the Church to celebrate the gifts that First Australian's bring to our Australian Catholic Church.
Delegates will experience a range of speakers and workshop presenters that explore the ways in which Traditional Culture and Catholic Faith are each strengthened and enriched when brought together in an authentic and thoughtful way.

Program
Keynote Speakers
Concurrent Workshops
Over 5 days, delegates will have the opportunity to hear renowned speakers including Stan Grant, Kelly Humphrey and Toby Whaleboat share their perspective and experiences on the Assembly theme - Pilgrims of Hope. The theme will continue through a series of concurrent workshops and several Yarning circle sessions where discussions can take place respectfully and deeply.
On Country Experiences
On Wednesday, delegates will experience the warmth and hospitality of the Traditional Custodians on one of three 'On Country' experiences:
Murrook Cultural Centre
Murrook Culture Centre, located in Williamtown, NSW, is a vibrant hub dedicated to preserving and showcasing Aboriginal culture. Meaning “good” or “happy” in the Gathang language, Murrook offers immersive experiences through interactive exhibitions, storytelling sessions, and workshops that honor the traditions of the Worimi people.
Nobby's Head
Head to the ocean in Newcastle! Known as Whibayganba to the Awabakal people, Nobby's Headholds deep cultural and spiritual significance in Aboriginal heritage. According to Awabakal tradition, Whibayganba is associated with a Dreaming story of a notorious kangaroo that leapt from Tahlbihn (now Fort Scratchley) to the safety of Whibayganba. You will be led by a Traditional Custodian who will share the stories and sites of significance on this walking tour.
Baiame Cave (Wonnuarua Country)
Baiame Cave near Milbrodale is home to ancient Aboriginal rock art over 1,000 years old, depicting Baiame—the Sky Father and creator. Painted high on the cave wall with arms outstretched, he watches over the Hunter Valley. This sacred site is a powerful symbol of Wonnarua culture, law, and connection to Country.
Youth program
A Youth program will run concurrently with the main program. NATSICC Youth Councillor Sabrina Stevens will guide Youth delegates in and out of the main Assembly as they explore their own concepts of pilgrimage and hope.
The Youth Program will be available here once completed.
